Tony Flach has withdrawn his candidacy in the November general election for a seat on the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Board of Education.

Flach, president of the ECPPS Education Foundation, has filed paperwork with the Pasquotank County Board of Elections to withdraw as a candidate for the school board, the Daily Advance learned this week.

The newspaper was unable to reach Flach for comment.

Flach unsuccessfully sought a school board seat in 2014. He said earlier this year he was running this fall in part to give voters a choice.

With Flach’s departure from the race, three candidates remain for the two Outside City seats on the board. The candidates are Sharon Warden, a retired teacher who currently chairs the board; George Archuleta, a former Coast Guardsman and retired aircraft mechanic; and Ron Payne, a former principal at Northeastern High School.
