Utilizing dominoes and Scrabble tiles, Sherri McDaniel creates unique jewelry.
McDaniel designs resin pendants, earrings and necklaces. Alcohol ink, silver and ribbon are some of the materials she incorporates to transform game pieces into fashionable accessories.
The jewelry features a wide array of designs, but McDaniel said the most popular is the turtle design.
McDaniel describes her craft room where she designs her jewelry in her home in Camden as her “sanctuary.”
McDaniel, who earned her bachelor's degree in interior design from Central Washington University, enjoys sharing her love of crafts and the arts. She said in addition to her jewelry, she often designs cards for her family and friends.
McDaniel said she sells her jewelry at the Museum of the Albemarle.
For the last four years McDaniel has exhibited her jewelry at the Camden Woman’s Club Holly Days Festival of Gifts.
“I love to see all the people come through,” said McDaniel.
A member of the Camden Woman’s Club, Inc. since 2009, McDaniel looks forward to Holly Days each year.
At this year’s Holly Days on Nov. 4-5 at Camden Intermediate School McDaniel will add something new to her jewelry booth. She will be sharing information about The Carolina Center at Corporate Drive, LLC, a new event venue she and her husband, Mike, opened this year.
“My husband retired from the Coast Guard this year,” said McDaniel. “We wanted to start a business.”
McDaniel said The Carolina Center at Corporate Drive includes a pre-function area, meeting room and kitchen, and it is available for events such as: weddings, banquets, parties and meetings.
McDaniel said the building’s interior is an “old world lodge style.”
The Carolina Center at Corporate Drive’s Facebook page offers information about the venue, according to McDaniel.
Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, McDaniel moved with her husband to Northeastern North Carolina in 1997. She has been a member of the Coast Guard Spouses’ Club for two decades.
McDaniel enjoys spending time with her husband and twin 14-year-old daughters.
