Whether you searching for home decor or the perfect gift, Kimberly Lane suggests visiting the 40th annual Mistletoe Show at Knobbs Creek Recreation Center on Nov. 10-11.

Originally from Elizabeth City, Lane recalls attending the show when she was growing up.

“When I was younger we used to go every year,” Lane said.

Now as a member of the show’s sponsor, the Elizabeth City Junior Woman’s Club, she is helping to organize the event and carry on the tradition started by past members of the club.

“It’s a unique experience,” said Lane. “You are helping out somebody’s craft.”

Lane said the show will feature more than 70 vendors. Wreaths, pottery, soaps, fudge, jams, honey and clothing are just a few of the items that will be available at the show.

“We are planning for it to be bigger and better,” she said.

The show will include vendors selling craft items for all ages.

“You can get personalized gifts,” Lane said.

Lane, who works at Atlantic Screenprint in South Mills, said the best part of working with the show is watching vendors set up their displays in the gym at Knobbs Creek Recreation Center. She said her 15-year-old daughter, Leighanna, also likes to help out at the show.

Lane has been a member of the Elizabeth City Junior Woman’s Club for three years.

“The Mistletoe Show is our biggest fundraiser we do for the year,” she said.

Lane said the club helps local organizations and schools throughout the year. Last year the Junior Women’s Club was able to provide groceries to three families in need at Thanksgiving.

“We are here to help,” said Lane.

Hours for the Mistletoe Show are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for students ages 6-18, $2 for seniors ages 60 and up, and free for children 5 and younger. Two-day passes are available for $5.

Santa Claus is scheduled to visit the show on Saturday from 10 a.m to noon. Attendees will also have a chance to win door prizes on both days of the show.

Lane said the club is always open to new members, and anyone interested in joining should contact a club member at the Mistletoe Show.
