Dockside wins Christmas window decorating

Dockside Elizabeth City is the winner of the Downtown Elizabeth City Christmas Window Decorating Contest, officials announced last week.

Dockside, located at 115B South Water Street, is known for being creative in decorating their windows each season throughout the year.

Second place went to No Limit Fitness and Performance Training Center at 515 E. Main Street. This was No Limit's first year participating in the contest.

This year's contest winners were determined through a public vote, with the winners receiving the most votes.

Arts of the Albemarle at 516 E. Main St., finished a close third in the voting. New to downtown business, Albemarle Floral, at 505 E. Church Street was fourth in the voting.

Twiddy, Aydlett top agents at L&F for January

Rhonda Twiddy and John Aydlett were named the top sales and listing agents for January at Long & Foster real estate firm.

Firm executives Phyllis Bosomworth and Erin Nixon made the announcement.

Twiddy, named Sales Agent of the Month, is a lifelong resident of Elizabeth City and has 40 years of experience in sales, business development and organizational management. She currently chairs the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County Tourism Development Authority, serves on the board of the Committee of 100, serves as Secretary of the First Flight Society and is a Rotarian. She was a Multi-Million Dollar Producer in 2015 and 2016, and a Mega-Million Dollar Producer in 2017 and 2018.

Aydlett, named Listing Agent of the Month, is a native of Camden. He graduated from North Carolina State University and has worked in the Albemarle area for over 25 years. He is involved with several community efforts.

James, Berry top agents at Taylor Mueller

Taylor Mueller Realty announced its top agents for performance in January.

Travis James was named Sales Agent for the Month, and Jennifer Berry as Listing Agent for the Month, the firm reported.

Bangle named to Wake Forest Dean’s List 

Brandi Bangle from South Mills has been named to Wake Forest University's Dean's List for the fall 2018 semester while studying abroad. Students who achieve a 3.4 and no grade below a C were named to the list.

Brandi Bangle is a Wake Forest University class of 2021 communication major with a writing minor. A Camden County High School graduate, she is the daughter of Ronda and Belvin Bangle III.

Ribbon-cutting marks Belvin Custom Builders

The Currituck County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting on Feb. 7 for Belvin Built Custom Builders in Powells Point.

Husband and wife team Ashely and Lauren Belvin of Belvin Built General Contracting, Inc. celebrated the grand opening. Belvin Built Custom Builders is an Outer Banks North Carolina-based construction company.

Perry Auto partners with COA Foundation

Perry Auto Group recently renewed their Community Partnership with College of The Albemarle’s Foundation for 2019.

Not only does Perry Auto Group support the partnership program and fundraising efforts for COA, they also support one of their own employees through a tuition sponsorship. Katherine Lavinder began employment at Perry’s Performance Chevrolet in March 2018. She also attends College of The Albemarle through online courses, working toward a General Business Administration degree. Lavinder plans to graduate in 2020 and said that her employers have been supportive of her academic endeavors while working full-time.

“Working for Perry’s Performance Chevrolet while also completing classes online, has really put me at an advantage when it comes to applying my studies to my work ethic,” Lavinder said. “My first job would provide me with not only financial support, but also offer inspiration for my future career plans. I cannot thank Perry Auto Group enough for their support.”
