COLUMBIA — St. Andrew's Episcopal Church held a candlelight Celtic Worship service Sunday to celebrate the life and Christian ministry of St. Patrick. There was music, poetry, readings and even a Celtic harp.

Bob Waters played the harp and led the musical portion of the service that was presided over by the Rev. Joe Cooper. Afterward, there was a hearty meal served in the parish hall.

Here is a small taste of some poetry that the congregation recited “The Breastplate” -- words often attributed to St. Patrick:

Christ above me

Christ on my right,

Christ on my left,

Christ when I lie down,

Christ when I sit down,

Christ when I arise,

Christ int eh hear of every man who thinks of me,

Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,

Christ in every eye that sees me,

Christ in every ear that hears me.
