Burr should not vote on DeVos' nomination

Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of education, Betsy DeVos, and her family gave more than $20 million to Republican campaigns and senators who are now set to vote on her confirmation.

When super-wealthy donors like DeVos can use secret cash to buy power and influence, that’s a threat to our democracy. This is wrong. She has flouted our campaign finance laws and tried to dismantle the safeguards we have in place.

As a constituent, I am asking Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., to recuse himself from voting on DeVos' confirmation. It is the honorable thing to do.
