Jones: No separate standard for Congress

Sunday, July 16, 2017

I am writing in response to a letter published in your July 12th edition, “3rd District voters need to help ‘drain swamp.’” I agree that our country should encourage the best of its elected officials, as well as

promote limited government and prosperity.

I especially agree that members of Congress should be held to the same standard as every single person in this great country. That is why I have never voted for any pay raise for Congress, and I have never

voted for legislation that would exempt myself or other representatives from the same laws governing the American people. Your letter-writer is correct: it is time we bring the government back to the people.
