Trump's asking cops to break law immoral

Saturday, August 12, 2017

It was cringe-making time to watch President Trump stand before a large group of police officers in New York and encourage them to rough up criminal suspects. Doesn’t the president know that we have a rule of law in our country? He seems to have no respect for the professional integrity of our police department. And his advocating for our police officers to break the law is revolting and immoral. It is sad to say that we have a president who is teaching all the wrong things to our children.

We must remember that President Trump is the same person who placed a full-page ad in The New York Daily News back in 1989 calling for the execution of the Central Park 5. The Central Park 5 were five black and brown teenage boys who were arrested for beating and sexually assaulting a woman in Central Park. After spending many long years in prison, the boys were found innocent of the crime after the woman’s real assailant was found through DNA evidence and he made a full confession.

Mr. Trump has never apologized to the Central Park 5. When asked about the case today he quips, “They were guilty of something, believe me.”

So tragic! Life is not fair.
