Your coverage of the selection of Dr. Joe Ferrell as our new school superintendent in Camden County was well-written and addressed essential issues.

Of course, I have never seen Staff Writer Reggie Ponder write a poor story. Thus, our citizens now know that the new superintendent has a pertinent education that is complete and from prestigious universities. We also know his applied professional experience is both relevant and broad.

Yet one more issue might be explored, perhaps beyond the focus of the story but of substantial importance. We must extend to Dr. Travis Twiford our ample appreciation for his willingness to take over in short order, and to do a brilliant job as interim superintendent. I have seen first hand the astute service he has provided to our county and believe indebtedness and gratitude must be extended to him. Likely, no more long-range impact of greater importance issues from any other public office than that which educates our children.

I’d like to say thank you, Dr. Twiford and welcome Dr Ferrell.
