Mike Nifong, the former district attorney in Durham, deliberately lied, admitted telling a lie, got one night in jail and was fined a modest amount when he almost destroyed the lives of five Duke lacrosse players. He was held in criminal contempt for lying to a judge while pursuing rape allegations in the Duke case.
