Homosexuals should show pride in Christ, not sin

I was flabbergasted when I read that the Northeast North Carolina Progressives hosted their first “Pride Fest” on Sunday, June 24 here in Elizabeth City! This festival celebrated lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and included special speakers, music and other highlights.

It makes me wonder just what will happen next in Elizabeth City. Perhaps upcoming events will include an “open marriage forum,” in which the advantages of expanding the bounds of traditionally monogamous relationships will be discussed. Frankly, I believe that condoning adultery and non-monogamy as “openness” is immoral.

It is my understanding that there is a difference between a person being a homosexual (that is to say, having homosexual predispositions) and the engagement in homosexual activities. Likewise, I believe that the Holy Bible teaches that homosexual actions are sinful. Nevertheless, homosexuality is not the worst sin a person can commit. Jesus told the citizens of Capernaum: “It will be more tolerable for the  land of Sodom on Judgement Day than for you.” This was because the citizens of Capernaum rejected Jesus as their Messiah. Rejecting Jesus as Lord and Savior is the most horrible sin that a person can commit.

In conclusion, anybody who is a good Christian will live by the philosophy of self-denial, self-control, and self-restraint. In other words, a homosexual who is a true follower of Jesus Christ will be chaste and celibate. Furthermore, if a follower of Jesus Christ wants to be proud about something, that person should be proud of what the Lord Jesus did on the Cross of Calvary.
