Trump not following Paul's ideals for Christians
Wednesday, August 1, 2018
In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul set forth certain ideals for Christians to follow. In 1 Corinthians 13, verses 1 and 4-6, he wrote: “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. ... Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.”
I wonder how President Trump’s evangelical base reconciles the above Biblical admonitions with the inconsistent statements of their leader. It would seem to me that our president is “only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.” But because he professes to be a Christian, let’s hope he seeks redemption before it’s too late.
