Animal shelter does great job rescuing, caring for animals

I just wanted to send kudos to the Pasquotank County Animal Shelter.

My husband is a cat man and it’s been two years since we lost our beloved “Bushy,” who we rescued on Sept. 11, 2001. We believe in giving rescue animals a chance but I was worried about bringing something like parvo home to our dog, Ella.

Charles chose a 4-month-old cat, who he and my daughter named Catlyn. I call her “kitty kitty.” She is a dear. She had been in the shelter since she was an early kitten. The shelter officials did everything right. She has adjusted with affection and cuteness. She loves to be cuddled and stays near to us.

Ella is tolerating this change but Catlyn loves Ella. We have a healthy young cat with no fleas, sores or problems. We had her “fixed” through the shelter and that was uneventful and stress-free.

The employees of the shelter care. They recruit volunteers to love these animals with great success. The place doesn’t smell and all animal apartments are clean.

There are a lot of animals housed here and they try really hard to make a smooth transition possible.

I’d like to say “thank you” to all who participate. We have a loving, healthy new family member.
