Phelps not beholden to interests, focused on us

Another day, another anti-Cole Phelps flyer, likely financed by outside money, in my mail.
Cole Phelps is the Democratic candidate for the N.C. state Senate seat in District 1. His opponent’s campaign relies on demonizing Phelps with lurid photos and menacing accusations, but in his smart, refreshing campaign, Phelps addresses the issues rather than lambaste his opponent.
Phelps grew up in eastern North Carolina, graduated from East Carolina University, earned his law degree magna cum laude from North Carolina Central University, and has a law practice in Washington County where he also serves as a county commissioner. He cares knowingly for our area. His priorities for us include strengthening and preserving public education, creating job opportunities, expanding rural health care, improving public safety, providing affordable housing and transportation to attract and keep the workforce of the future, promoting renewable energy and protecting our environment, upgrading broadband, and supporting fair redistricting practices.
Phelps will be a fresh, fair, thoughtful, articulate, and well-informed presence for northeastern North Carolina in Raleigh. He is not beholden to outside interests; his focus is on us.
