City's professional first responders deserve pay hike
Thursday, February 21, 2019
I was involved in a traffic accident Wednesday, Feb. 13. To make a long story short, it was my own fault. I didn’t wait for traffic to move as I entered the intersection, thereby causing a four-car pileup.
Afterward, the police and firetrucks showed up and first responders made sure everyone was in as good condition as possible. The actions taken by the police officers and firefighters at the scene were the most professional I have seen of any city employees.
Elizabeth City should be proud that it has these professionals working for the city. Citizens and officials need to ensure that they get the best salary in the future. I think they should get a raise and make a comfortable living for themselves and their families.
