The more I watch the news about the doings in Washington, D.C., and especially in the White House, the more I realize that I — and all of us — must not live, think, and act that way. Our "leaders" are poor models of how to live a good, true, fulfilled life.

What do we witness every hour of the day? We witness lying, cover-ups, deceit, braggadocio, dishonesty, unchecked political ambition, greed for power, disregard for law and nobility and what made America America. This not how to live a good life.

The really good, true and beautiful life includes truth, honesty, selflessness, sincerity, compassion, and genuine love for every creature in the world. Another name for a people who live like that is a "Christian nation."

We call ourselves this, but we're more influenced by the unchristianity emanating from Washington, D.C., than by Jesus Christ's Sermon on the Mount.
