Toward wholesome pleasures, away from temptation

“Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
This has puzzled me for years. Why would any God lead a devotee toward temptation?
Consider this reading: Lead us toward wholesome pleasures and away from temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Evil is the absence of pleasure. See the passage beginning, “Remember now thy creator... before the days come in which you will have no pleasure (evil days). Rejoice and be glad ... make a joyful noise.”
If you make believe you are happy, you will become more happy than if you act depressed. Beat your drum. Blow your horn. Celebrate ‘cause you were born.
