Christmas shoppers have plenty of choices to find gifts during Small Business Saturday when local shops traditionally offer discounts and special deals.

Small Business Saturday is a national initiative started by American Express that brings attention to the importance of shopping local in our communities.

Elizabeth City Downtown, the Downtown Business & Professional Association, and individual small businesses in downtown are organizing a day of fun activities and experiences in the downtown area, from synchronized holiday music to decorated window displays, treats at various businesses, Santa Claus, and sales.

For more information about the national initiative and to sign up for freebies for your business, visit www.americanexpress.com/shopsmall ; for more information about local events, contact Debbie at ECDI at 252-338-4104. Free and open for all.
