The Albemarle Community Orchestra will present is second annual concert of Christmas music on Friday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Carolina Moon Theater, 500 Grubb St. in Hertford.

Besides the orchestra, the program will include carols sung by “Gabriel’s Men.”

Tickets are $8 and may be purchased at Carolina Trophy on Church Street.

For more information, call Nancy Jones, director at 426-3833.

All proceeds will be donated to area migrant farm workers.

Jones said her Catholic church, St. Anne’s, has been supporting migrant workers in the past.

“They need our support,” Jones said of the migrant workers. “They come here and they don’t have transportation and they’re earning money they can send home to their families. There is such a need for poor people. I wish more people were aware of it.”

A lot of the support the church has offered is in the way of food for the workers, and long-sleeve shirts and hats for when they’re working in the fields.

The orchestra had already planned to do one show on Dec. 17 at 4 p.m. St. Anne’s.

“We wanted to do more than one said we’d already prepared the program,.” Jones said.

The orchestra is made up of 21 members from Perquimans, Pasquotank and Chowan counties. There is even a member from Columbia.

“Gabriel’s Men” is a singing group of seven men. They will open the program.
