HICKORY, N.C. (AP) -- Ben Bengtson doubled twice and singled twice, scoring two runs as the West Virginia Power topped the Hickory Crawdads 8-2 on Thursday.

Ryan Peurifoy doubled and singled with two runs for West Virginia.

West Virginia started the scoring in the second inning when Calvin Mitchell scored on a ground out and Bengtson hit an RBI single.

After West Virginia added a run in the fifth on a single by Rodolfo Castro, the Crawdads cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Ryan Dorow hit a solo home run and Miguel Aparicio scored on an error.

The Power later added two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth. In the seventh, Fabricio Macias and Castro both drove in a run, while Macias drove in two runs and Peurifoy drove in one in the eighth.

Beau Sulser (4-4) got the win with 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief while Hickory starter Reid Anderson (2-6) took the loss in the South Atlantic League game.

With the win, West Virginia improved to 12-6 against Hickory this season.
