PEORIA, Ill. (AP) -- Jesse Berardi doubled and singled as the Lake County Captains defeated the Peoria Chiefs 6-1 on Thursday.

Lake County started the scoring in the first inning when Jose Vicente hit a two-run triple.

The Captains later added two runs in both the fourth and seventh innings. In the fourth, Josh Rolette hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Berardi, while Todd Isaacs and Oscar Gonzalez both drove in a run in the seventh.

Lake County right-hander Jean Carlos Mejia (2-3) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing one run on eight hits over seven innings. Opposing starter Alex Fagalde (4-3) took the loss in the Midwest League game after giving up four runs and four hits over five innings.
