NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- Joey Curletta hit a bases-clearing single in the fifth inning, leading the Arkansas Travelers to a 6-5 win over the Springfield Cardinals on Thursday.

The single by Curletta capped a four-run inning and gave the Travelers a 4-3 lead after Chris Mariscal hit an RBI single earlier in the inning.

The Travelers later tacked on two runs in the seventh when Braden Bishop scored on a forceout and Mariscal scored on a wild pitch to secure the victory.

Springfield saw its comeback attempt come up short after Ramon Urias hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Evan Mendoza in the eighth to cut the Arkansas lead to 6-5.

Springfield missed a scoring opportunity in the sixth, when Urias flew out with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Spencer Herrmann (5-4) got the win in relief while Springfield starter Austin Warner (0-3) took the loss in the Texas League game. Matt Festa retired the side in order for his 13th save of the season.

For the Cardinals, Mendoza singled three times, driving home two runs. John Nogowski singled three times.

Arkansas improved to 15-7 against Springfield this season.
