A Pasquotank County woman was in fair condition at a Virginia hospital Wednesday, a day after she was ejected from her car during a single-vehicle accident on Peartree Road.

Nicolette Dale Maddy, 19, of North Banks Drive, was injured when the 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier she was driving left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch near the Ida Acres subdivision, an Elizabeth City police spokesman said Wednesday.

Sgt. Jamie Judge said Maddy did not suffer any life-threatening injuries. A spokeswoman for Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on Wednesday confirmed Maddy remains in fair condition at the hospital.

An official with Pasquotank-Camden Emergency Medical Services  said Tuesday the motorist in the Peartree Road accident had been ejected from her vehicle but was still conscious at the scene. The motorist was transported to Sentara Norfolk as a precaution, the official said.

Elizabeth City police were notified of the accident at 12:11 p.m., Judge said.
