A 43-year-old Pasquotank County man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly hit a woman in the face and fired a handgun at a man driving his vehicle.
John Lawrence Allen, of the 1200 block of Bluff Point Road, is charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and felony discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, Pasquotank District Court documents show. He also is charged with one count of misdemeanor assault on a female.
According to the records, Allen grabbed a woman by her head on Aug. 9, pushed her to the floor and then hit her in the face with his fist, causing her lip to bleed.
On the same date, he fired a 45-caliber handgun at a man who was driving Allen’s 2001 Jeep, the records show.
A Pasquotank sheriff's deputy arrested Allen the same day and his secured bond was set at $50,000.
The next day, Allen appeared before District Judge Eula Reid, who ordered him to return to court for a hearing on Sept. 14.
Allen posted bond, but Reid ordered him not to have any contact with the woman or possess a firearm or deadly weapon while he awaits trial.
