Suspect named in Edenton slaying

EDENTON — Police are searching for a suspect considered “armed and dangerous” and wanted in connection with the death of Ronald Taylor.
Police Chief Jay Fortenbery said a warrant for first degree murder has been obtained on Edward Devonne Wiggins, of the 300 block of North Granville Street in Edenton. He is 36 years of age, 5’10” tall, 240 lbs. Anyone with information about the location of this individual is urged to call law enforcement. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Taylor was gunned down in the 200 block of East Church Street on Saturday, Aug. 23. Taylor, 51, of 313 E. Church Street, later died of his injuries at Vidant-Chowan Hospital.
Officers collected multiple shell casings at the scene and the Elizabeth City Police Department provided assistance with a K9 tracking dog.
The NC State Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation and anyone with additional information is asked to call the Edenton Police Department. Your information will be kept confidential.
