The Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help finding the person who shot a motorist from a passing vehicle near the Queenswood subdivision Monday evening.

Sana Mohammad Awadallah was treated for a gunshot wound to her leg and released from Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

According to the release, Awadallah, who was driving a 2007 Audi SUV, was turning onto Princess Anne Circle at the Queenswood entrance from Body Road when she heard the sound of gunfire and felt something strike her left leg. Awadallah apparently was able to stop her vehicle and report the incident to authorities, who said the call came in shortly before 5:30 p.m.

The sheriff's office said Awadallah believes the gunfire came from a passing vehicle, which she described as either a two- or four-door car that was blue in color, possibly turquoise.

It was not clear Awadallah was targeted in the incident.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to phone the sheriff's office at 338-2191 or the local CrimeLine at 335-5555. Callers to CrimeLine don't have to provide their inmates.
