A planned closure of Morgans Corner Road on Tuesday for N.C. Department of Transportation training purposes has been canceled, officials said.

Instead, a northbound lane of the U.S. Highway 17 high-rise bridge in Camden County will be shut down from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to conduct the training there, Pasquotank-Camden Emergency Management Coordinator Christy Saunders said.

Sanders said the training will be with bridge maintenance equipment and crews needed a larger area than Morgans Corner Road for the exercise.

Saunders said the closure will depend on weather conditions.

The National Weather Service forecast for the Elizabeth City area calls for a slight chance of showers before 8 a.m., with rain mainly likely after 2 p.m.
