Elizabeth City police have in custody two more men wanted in connection with the armed robbery and shooting of a city man last month.
Rasheen Raymon Williams, 28, of the 1500 block of N. Road Street, and Rodney Wayne Stokely, 28, of the 900 block of First Street, were arrested Tuesday, a police press release states.
Both men are charged in connection with a Dec. 11 incident in which Jordan Baeza was robbed and shot in the 100 block of Raintree Run, which is in the Summerfield subdivision of Elizabeth City.
Arrest warrants indicate Baeza was robbed of his cellphone and $4,400 in cash in the Dec. 11 incident. He was shot with a semi-automatic handgun, the warrants state.
Following their arrests, both Williams and Stokely were charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, armed robbery and first-degree kidnapping and second-degree kidnapping. They were transported to Albemarle District Jail where they were being detained Wednesday in lieu of $250,000 secured bonds. They both have first appearances in District Court scheduled for Thursday.
The police press release doesn’t indicate where or how Williams Stokely were arrested.
Baeza, whose condition at one time was listed as serious, was released from the hospital last month, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital spokesman Dale Gauding said.
Also arrested in the Dec. 11 incident is 24-year-old Damon Shy’quay Williams. He faces the same charges as Rasheen Williams and Stokley: armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and first-degree and second-degree kidnapping.
Damon Williams, who was taken into custody shortly after the shooting, is also being held at Albemarle District Jail in lieu of a $250,000 secured bond. His next appearance in court is also Jan. 4. He’s being represented by the Public Defender's Office.
