A South Carolina man remains in custody at Albemarle District Jail following his arrest for the armed robbery of a Pasquotank couple at their home the day before New Year's Eve, records show.

Henry Mulligan Jr., 26, of the 2100 block of Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, is charged with one count each of felony armed robbery, felony attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, according to Pasquotank District Court records.

Mulligan is also charged with three additional felonies — first-degree burglary, second-degree kidnapping, and possession of stolen property — and misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun.

According to court records, Mulligan, armed with a semi-automatic handgun, broke into a house on Body Road some time between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30. A man, his wife and children were in the home at the time of the break-in, the records show.

Mulligan is accused of assaulting the man with the handgun and pointing it at the woman before robbing them of $260. He also allegedly confined the woman in a part of the house during the incident.

According to Pasquotank sheriff's records, Mulligan was arrested about 4:50 p.m. the same day of the incident.

Mulligan is being held at Albemarle District Jail. No further information was immediately available from the sheriff's office.

Mulligan appeared on Jan. 2  before Clerk of Superior Court Katherine Cartwright, who presided in place of a District Court judge. Cartwright ordered Mulligan to appear in District Court on Jan. 18.

Mulligan is being represented by the Public Defender's Office.
