With roads expected to be icy following Wednesday’s snowstorm, Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools will delay school openings Thursday while two other area districts say they’ll be closed.

District officials in Elizabeth City-Pasquotank said Wednesday evening that major roads in the county are currently passable but there is snow accumulation on secondary roads. Because temperatures are expected to remain below freezing until noon, the district will operate on a three-hour delay Thursday. District officials noted that is subject to change, however, based on actual road conditions Thursday morning.

Currituck County School officials said the district’s schools will be closed on Thursday. The day will be an optional workday for school staff following a three-hour delay.

The Camden County Schools will also be closed for students on Thursday because of road conditions. The day is an optional workday for school staff if they can get to work safely, the district said Wednesday evening.
