Currituck names new Currituck Middle School principal

CURRITUCK — The Currituck County Schools have named a new principal at Currituck County Middle School and a new chief information officer for the school district.

At Currituck County Middle School, Michelle Cowan has been named principal of the school after serving as interim principal. She became interim principal after Matt Lutz was promoted to assistant superintendent.

Cowan has also been a seventh- and eighth-grade language arts teacher at Currituck County Middle School. She is beginning her 17th year as an educator. Her experience includes teaching in elementary schools in Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, Alabama and California.

In another development, Sandra Reynolds has been named chief information officer for Currituck County Schools following the retirement of Paul O’Briant. Reynolds has 22 years of experience in education, including 21 with the Currituck County Schools. Reynolds has been a teacher and instructional coach.
