Two hospitalized after collision on Camden Causeway

Two people, including a teenager, were hospitalized after a vehicle crash on the Camden Causeway, Sunday evening.
According to Pasquotank-Camden Emergency Medical Services, the 16-year-old driver of a small pickup truck was ejected after a head-on collision. The teenager was semi-conscious at the scene, EMS officials said. The second patient was a 45-year-old woman, who was complaining of stomach and back pain. Both patients were transported to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, and the teenager was then transferred to a hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.
The accident occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 158 in the vicinity of Country Club Road in Camden. EMS was dispatched at around 6:25 p.m. At the scene, it was raining, traffic in the east bound lanes was backed up and assets from Pasquotank-Camden emergency and fire services had responded, while more were on their way.
