Elizabeth City police are investigating an armed robbery of a convenience store Saturday night.

A man armed with a handgun robbed the Circle D at 1013 North Road St., Elizabeth City, about 9 p.m., police spokeswoman Sgt. Latoya K. Flanigan said on Sunday.

According to Flanigan, the man, wearing something to cover is face, entered the store and brandished a handgun. Three employees were in the store at the time, she said.

The robbery suspect jumped the counter and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register before fleeing, Flanigan said.

None of the employees were harmed in the robbery, she said.

The robbery suspect, who was caught on the store’s surveillance camera, is described as a black male. He was wearing a black-colored hoodie, black jeans and black shoes, Flanigan said.
