CURRITUCK — A Grandy man remains confined at Currituck County Detention Center awaiting a court appearance on three felony charges, including assault by strangulation.
Kirk Lamar Bowe, 33, of the 130 block of North River Landing Road, Grandy, was arrested Jan. 18 and charged with one felony count each of assault by strangulation, assault inflicting serious bodily injury and possession of a controlled substance, a Currituck Sheriff’s Office arrest report states.
According to the arrest warrants, the two assault offenses occurred on Jan. 8, 2018, but the possession offense occurred more than a year later on Jan. 18, the same day Bowe was arrested on all three charges.
According to the warrants, Bowe is accused of assaulting a woman by choking her with his hands and then punching her with a closed fist. The assault left the woman with a broken nose and a fractured eye orbit, the warrants state.
A third warrant states Bowe was in possession of cocaine.
On the assault by strangulation charge, Bowe’s secured bond was set at $100,000. Bond for the possession charge was set at $5,000 secured.
Bowe’s next scheduled court appearance on all three charges is Wednesday. His previous two court appearance dates — Jan. 23 and Feb. 6 — were continued.
Bowe has been assigned a public defender, records show.
