Jashwan De’Andre Brown was arrested last week by officers with the Greensboro Police Department and charged with murder in the Jan. 6 shooting death of Rayshon Carter, Bertie County Sheriff John Holley said.
Carter, of Edenton, who was shot while attending a birthday party at the Merry Hill Community Building.
Several days after Carter’s shooting, Tywan Jonshea’ Outlaw was arrested in Franklin, Va., and charged with being an accessory after the fact to the crime.
Law enforcement officials then began searching northeastern North Carolina and southern Virginia to find Brown.
Tips led investigators to contact the State Bureau of Investigation Fugitive Task Force and the Greensboro Police Department Violent Fugitive Apprehension Team. According to Holley, both agencies were quickly able to track down Brown and arrest him.
Brown was turned over to Bertie County sheriff’s officials and returned to Bertie. He appeared before a magistrate where he was charged with murder and confined to the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail without bond. He will make his first appearance in Bertie County District Court on Wednesday.
