Partial Water Street closing canceled
Monday, March 18, 2019
The partial closing of the southbound lane on Water Street scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed, the director of Elizabeth City Downtown said Monday.
Deborah Malenfant, director of ECDI, Inc., initially said Monday that the southbound lane of Water Street between Elizabeth Street and Colonial Avenue would be closed to allow construction work to proceed on the Weatherly Lofts building renovation. The closing was scheduled from 9 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m., she said.
Malenfant said later, however, that the scheduled closing had been canceled and that a new date for the work will be rescheduled.
Weatherly Lofts will be a 44-unit, upscale apartment complex that will cost around $4.5 million to build, according to ECDI and project developer James Flanigan, of JD Lewis Construction Management.
