CURRITUCK — A Currituck County man charged with several felony sex offenses involving a child has had his court case continued until August.

Mark Lee Turner, 51, of the 300 block of Baxter Lane, Moyock, is next scheduled to appear in Currituck Superior Court on Aug. 19, according to the Currituck Clerk of Superior Court.

Turner's most recent court appearance was Monday, June 3.

In December a grand jury indicted Turner on three felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, according to court documents. Orders for Turner’s arrest were issued Dec. 17, 2018, and Turner was later arrested and charged with those offenses on March 4.

Turner was subsequently arrested April 1 and charged with five felony counts of sex offense with a child, an arrest report from the Currituck Sheriff’s Office stated. Turner also was charged with five felony counts of sexual activity by a substitute parent or custodian, the report stated.

Turner's Aug. 19 court appearance will be for all charges.

An official at the Currituck County Detention Center confirmed Tuesday that Turner was still custody.

Turner is being represented by Michael Sanders, a defense attorney in Elizabeth City.
