Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a burglary that resulted in thousands of dollars in damage to an ATM and gaming machines at a popular convenience store.

Shortly before noon on Friday, Sept. 6, deputies responded to Erp’s Service Station, where somebody broke into the business, damaged an ATM and two coin-operated gaming machines and stole money, the responding deputy’s incident report states.

According to the report, the damaged ATM machine was valued at $3,000, while each of the damaged coin-operated gaming machines were valued at $2,000. A broken exterior window also was valued at $100, and $40 in U.S. currency was stolen, the report states.

Erp’s Service Station is located at 660 Old U.S. Highway 17 south of Elizabeth City.
