Deputies are investigating a report of stolen firearms from a Weeksville area residence. Another breaking and entering that occurred nearby and around the same time also is being investigated.

Shortly before noon on Friday, the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of breaking and entering at a home in the 1200 block of Salem Church Road. At the scene, deputies discovered the home had been forcibly broken into and entered through the garage door, according to a sheriff’s office news release. An undisclosed number of firearms was reported stolen, but the sheriffs office did not indicate the types of firearms. The firearms also were the only property the home’s occupants reported as stolen.

Meanwhile, another residence in the nearby 1600 block of Nixonton Road was broken into around the same time, the sheriff’s office said. It is unknown what property was stolen from that location.

The sheriff’s office said the suspect was a black male with a large build, shoulder length dreadlocks last seen wearing multi-colored short pants and driving a gray SUV. However, the sheriff’s office did not indicate if the suspect was believed to have been involved in both break-ins.

Anyone with information regarding these reports is asked to call sheriff’s office at 252-338-2191 or the Crimeline at 252-335-5555.
