Students at Sheep-Harney Elementary School participated in a multicultural fair on Dec. 14 as part of an A+ School learning experience. Each grade level focused on a different traditional culture by combining interdisciplinary learning of visual arts, music, language arts, science, social studies, and math. 

District recognizes Employess of Week

SeLisa Godfrey and Joy Rhodes, both employees at H.L. Trigg Community School, have been named Employees of the Week for Dec. 11-15.

In addition, Meredith Collins, the district's assistant director of finance, was named ECPPS Superstar for Central Services.

Godfrey, a high school math teacher is Certified Employee of the Week. She has been employed with ECPPS since August 2015.

"Ms. Godfrey demonstrates a strong commitment to the students and staff at H.L. Trigg," states a school district news release. "She strives for excellence and continually seeks opportunities for professional growth."

Rhodes, the data manager and bookkeeper at H.L. Trigg Community School, was named Non-Certifed Employee of the Week. She has been employed with ECPPS since January 1992.

"Mrs. Rhodes is dedicated to the students and staff at H.L. Trigg and goes above and beyond each day to help make a difference for others," states a school district news release. "She carries out her duties in a highly professional manner and is valued for all that she contributes to the school."

Collins has been employed with the district since August 2011.

"Mrs. Collins is extremely pleasant and helpful to others. She is always willing to provide support in any capacity," states a school district news release. "She contributes greatly to the positive work environment at Central Services."

Berri licious and Page After Page are the week's business supporters for the Employee of the Week program.

Student selected for Albemarle Youth Choir

Ellee Forsblom, fifth grade student at Weeksville Elementary, received a scholarship to the spring session of the Albemarle Youth Choir. Students submitted an essay explaining why they felt they deserved this award, and Ellee was chosen for this honor.

Weeksville Elementary recognizes volunteer

Shelly Oslovsky, parent of two Weeksville Elementary students, was named the Weeksville Parent Teacher Organization Volunteer of the Month for November. She received a special treat and a designated parking place at the school for the entire month of December. 

River Road names Spelling Bee winners

River Road Middle School 8th Grade Spelling Bee Winners are Nallely Portillo (3rd place) Kamari Parker (2nd place) Charity Young (1st place). Charity Young will move on to participate in the Scripps Spelling Bee in Norfolk, Va.
