On Dec. 8, H.L. Trigg Community School celebrated the end of the first nine weeks with an awards ceremony. All students who made the honor roll were given a certificate. Austin Allen was presented a laptop, donated by Elizabeth City Pawn and Guns, for having the highest GPA.

Takoris Ebron was recognized for being the only middle school student to make the honor roll for the first nine weeks. Principal Ainslie Jones presented him with a certificate and a special gift in recognition of his hard work.

Spelling, Geography winners announced 

Winners of the Spelling and Geography Bee at Weeksville Elementary were Daniel McDowell- 1st place in Spelling Bee for 5th grade; Lester Weems - 1st place for Spelling Bee for 4th grade; Marissa Banks - 1st place for Spelling Bee for 3rd grade; Shaun Hoffler - 1st place for Geography Bee for 5th grade; Dominic Price - 1st place for Geography Bee for 4th grade;
