Shirley Powell, an instructional coach and facilitator for the Academically Intelligent and Gifted program at Weeksville Elementary School, has been named ECPPS’ Certified Employee of the Week.

According to ECPPS, Powell has been employed with the district since August 2017. She is a “superstar” for Weeksville Elementary, according to the district. She was selected for the Employee of the Week honor because of her unwavering support for teachers and staff, her attention to detail when it comes to academics, and her dedication to elevating rigor for the AIG program. She is valued and appreciated by the Weeksville Bulldog family.

Shanae Christian, a teacher assistant at Weeksville Elementary School, has been named the district’s Non-certified Employee of the Week.

According to ECPPS, Christian has been employed with ECPPS since September 2015 and is the “epitome of a team player.” She does whatever she can to make life better for the students and staff at Weeksville Elementary, and her positive attitude and work ethic are amazing, the district said. She contributes greatly to the positive learning environment at Weeksville and is appreciated for her service, the district said.

ECPPS thanked Berri licious, Pizza Hut, and Page After Page for supporting the Employee of the Week program and for being its business partners for the week. Employees recognized for the week of May 28 through June 1 received a balloon bouquet and a gift certificate from one of the business partners. The Certified Employee of the Week also received a 15 percent discount from Page After Page.

ECPPS Senior Scholars and educators honored

Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools held its 2nd annual Senior Scholar recognition event on May 24 at the K.E. White Center. The event honored seniors from both Northeastern High School and Pasquotank County High School who maintained a 3.5 weighted grade-point average each nine weeks from the beginning of the ninth grade through the past nine weeks grading period. There were 72 seniors who received the recognition.

As a part of the evening, the seniors had an opportunity to recognize an ECPPS educator who has made a significant impact on their life and educational experience in the school district.
