HERTFORD — Perquimas rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit to defeat South Creek 22-21 on Friday night in the season opener.

Perquimans (1-0) took the lead with 4:34 remaining the fourth quarter after a Miles Chaulk 2-yard touchdown run along with a Dwuan Williams 2-point conversion run.

Williams finished with 147 rushing yards in the win.

Junior quarterback Dallas Hall led the Pirates with 145 passing yards and two touchdown passes.

Perquimans did not allow South Creek (0-1) to score in the final two quarters.

Up next, Perquimans takes on Edenton on the road.

Northeastern 34, Plymouth 0: A quarter and a half of wet weather didn’t deter the Eagles from dropping the defending 1A state champions for a second-straight year.

A fake punt that resulted in a 40-yard pass from JR Walker to Randy Griffin kept a third scoring drive alive before the half, when Damar Sutton ran untouched to his right for a touchdown from six yards out.

Traveon Freshwater ran for two short scores while the NHS defense handed the Vikings their first scoreless contest in recent memory.

Edenton 46, SouthWest Edgecombe 13: Edenton dominated the second half as the Aces earned the opening night road victory on Friday.

Edenton (1-0) converted on a pair of SouthWest Edgecombe (0-1) fumbles into scores to pad its second half lead. Keimon Bailey and DeShaun Hall also added rushing scored for the Aces in the second half.

Edenton avenged a loss at home last season to the eventual 2A East Regional finalist.
