Big inning powers Aces past Eagles

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Edenton baseball team defeated Hedgesville 15-2 on Wednesday afternoon at the Mingo Bay Baseball Classic.
The Aces (15-2) led 4-2 entering the seventh inning and in the final frame scored 11 runs.
Senior Dylan Patrick had two hits with a double, a triple and four RBIs to lead the Aces.
Stanley White and Jaden Bobbitt drove home two runs each.
Ben Ward and Nathaniel Stallings both posted two hits with Ward adding two RBIs.
Chace Kelly had a hit and plated two runs.
Senior Patrick Downum went six innings and posted a game-high nine strikeouts.
Hedgesville, a school from West Virginia, took a 1-0 lead in the fourth, but the Aces responded with three runs in the fifth to take a 3-1 lead.
Both teams plated a run in the sixth.
Adam Weaver went six innings on the mound and had three strikeouts for Hedgesville.
Before Tuesday’s loss to Hammonton, Edenton had won nine consecutive games.
The Aces, which are playing in the Division I bracket at the Mingo Bay Classic, face New York’s Monsignor McClancy today at 1 p.m.
