BARCO — The Northeastern girls tennis team defeated Currituck 6-3 on Tuesday in a Northeastern Coastal Conference matchup at Currituck.
Northeastern coach April Rowe Turner noted that her team played well, especially since the coach had to adjust the team lineup in singles.
With some players out for NHS due to illness, Turner noted that Tuesday's win shows the depth of the team.
The Lady Eagles secured wins in singles from Olivia Sanders (6-0, 6-2), Ellie Hornthal (6-1, 6-1) and Davis Robertson (7-5, 6-3).
Currituck's Sarah Dover earned a win in No. 1 singles action with a 6-1, 6-1 result. Hannah Holden won her No. 2 singles match with a 6-4, 7-5 result.
In doubles, NHS earned wins from Robertson and Emma Teachy (10-7) and Hornthal and Madeline Twiford (10-2).
Dover and Holden won their doubles match 10-6 for Currituck.
Perquimans def. John A. Holmes 25-5, 25-9, 25-11: Samantha Midgett led the Lady Pirates (10-1, 4-0 Albemarle Athletic Conference) with 14 service points, six kills, five aces, two blocks and three digs.
Cayce Copley had 12 kills with four service points, McCrae Knapp had 17 assists with eight service points and three kills, with Abby Todd adding eight service points with two kills.
Megan Denson had six kills with five service points and five digs in the league match.
Edenton drops to 2-8 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
Camden def. Gates 25-21, 25-10, 25-12: The Lady Bruins (9-2, 4-1 AAC) secured the league win at home on Tuesday.
Madison Lindstrom had seven kills with a block, while Bianca Berry posted seven kills, three aces, three blocks, two digs and two assists.
McKenzie Underwood added 10 digs with five aces, Brooke Gurganus posted eight assists with five digs and two kills, while Caitlyn Overton posted 10 assists with two digs and two aces.
Up next, Camden travels to Edenton today.

Currituck def. Hertford County 25-9, 25-7, 25-20: The Lady Knights (10-2, 1-0 NCC) secured the conference win at home on Tuesday.
Pungo Christian def. Albemarle School 25-23, 18-25, 25-17, 25-22: Lindsay Winslow led the Lady Colts (6-2, 4-2 TIC) with 11 kills, six digs and four aces in the road loss on Tuesday.
Brooke Perry had seven digs with four kills, while Myra Roach had four digs, three assists, three kills, with two aces.
Samantha Nixon posted eight digs two aces and an ace.
First Flight def. Pasquotank 25-17, 25-8, 25-10: Paige Coker led Pasquotank (1-6, 0-1 NCC) with 27 digs, while Natalie Cranmer followed with 25 digs and six kills in the league match on Tuesday.
Adiama Richardson had six kills, Tanner Bembury had five kills and Katie Lavender posted four kills for the Lady Panthers.
