MACU women's basketball wins season-opener

MONT ALTO, Pa. — The Mid-Atlantic Christian women’s basketball team defeated Penn State Mont Alto 79-75 on Saturday afternoon.

Tierra Lester and Regina Woodley scored 16 points each to lead the Lady Mustangs (1-0).

Aleah McNeal followed with 14 points and five assists.

Lester had a team-high nine rebounds.

MACU trailed 66-62 with 7:03 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Lady Mustangs tied the game at 68-all following a Lester basket.

A 3-pointer by Talethia Alexander gave the Lady Mustangs the lead for good. Alexander connected on another 3-pointer to give MACU a 78-70 advantage.

Alexander finished with 11 points.


The MACU men’s basketball team lost two games at the Appalachian Wireless Classic over the weekend.

MACU lost to Bethel (Tenn.) 96-47 on Friday night and fell to Pikeville (Ky.) 95-60 on Saturday.

MACU (0-2) returns to Elizabeth City on Thursday to host the annual MACU Mustangs Showcase at Chesson Gym.
