AHOSKIE — Northeastern’s Breanna Proctor passed the 1,000 career-point mark against Bertie on Wednesday.
Proctor’s 17 points were not enough as the Lady Eagles lost to Bertie 46-40 at a basketball holiday classic at Hertford County High School.
The senior entered the contest against the Lady Falcons 10 points shy of 1,000 career points.
Proctor now has more than 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in her high school career. The forward passed the 1,000 career-rebound mark in February.
HERTFORD — The Perquimans boys basketball team defeated Gateway Christian (Va.) 67-30 on Thursday evening at a basketball tournament at Perquimans County High School.
Malik Leach led the Pirates (9-3) with 23 points and three steals, Rodney Lyons had nine points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
Ceo Riddick posted seven points, four blocks and three steals, while Karaye Twine added eight points, four blocks, four steals and nine rebounds.
Cheriff Hunter and DJ Signorelli each had seven rebounds, while Taequan Tillett had five assists.
Perquimans advances to the tournament final, where it will face Currituck (3-7) today at 6:30 p.m. at Perquimans.
Currituck defeated Ocracoke in the first game of the tournament on Thursday afternoon to advance.
The final will be the second meeting of the season between the clubs.
