The Northeastern girls basketball team defeated First Flight 42-37 on Thursday evening at Northeastern.

Breanna Proctor scored a game-high 23 points with 18 rebounds and four assists for Northeastern (2-6, 1-0 Northeastern Coastal Conference).

Tasharli Spellman posted seven rebounds, while Shelishia Bond and Love Ott each had five steals.

Nakiyah Arnold added six rebounds.

Jayden Carpenter led First Flight (5-5, 0-1 NCC) with 13 points, while Emma Midgett followed with 12 points in the league matchup.


Northeastern 80, First Flight 64: The Eagles (8-2, 1-0 NCC) secured their first league win on the season against the Nighthawks on Thursday in Elizabeth City.

Damar Sutton scored 22 points to lead NHS.

Clifford Shaw followed with 13 points with Brian Jones and Jeromy Bailey each scoring 11 points.

Dylan Blake scored a game-high 39 points with six rebounds, three assists and two steals for First Flight (8-3, 0-1 NCC).

Jordan High followed with 13 points, six rebounds and three assists for the Nighthawks.


Northeastern took part in a quad-match with First Flight, Cape Hatteras and Manteo on Thursday at First Flight High School.

NHS defeated Manteo 39-22, but fell to First Flight 45-30.

Scott Marazoff (120 pounds), Wyatt Johnson (132 pounds), Jonathan Ward (138 pounds), Justin Barr (182 pounds), Dylan Herman (195 pounds), Marqua Veale (220 pounds) and Raven Atkins (285 pounds) earned wins against the Redskins.

Ward, Herman, Atkins, Tristen Barr and Henry Zheng were winners against the Nighthawks.
