Lady Vikings lose four games this weekend

ETTRICK, Va. — The losing streak continues for the Elizabeth City State softball team.
The Lady Vikings were swept in a doubleheader at Virginia State on Sunday afternoon.
ECSU lost the first game 15-3 in five innings.
ECSU trimmed a 3-0 deficit in the second inning. The Lady Vikings (1-26, 1-12 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) scored in the frame wild pitch and on an RBI groundout by D’Asya Wilson.
Virginia State (16-12, 10-2 CIAA) responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning, four runs in the third and six runs in the fourth inning.
The Lady Trojans won Game 2 by a 14-3 score in five innings.
ECSU (1-27, 1-13 CIAA) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Cheyan Brassuer RBI single.
VSU (17-12, 11-2 CIAA) followed with three runs in the bottom of the inning and 11 runs in the second inning.
ECSU scored two runs in the third.
PANTHERS SWEEP VIKES
The Elizabeth City State softball team lost two games of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon to Virginia Union in Richmond, Virginia.
VUU won 11-2 in Game 1 of the doubleheader in five innings. ECSU (1-24, 1-10 CIAA) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI hit by Alyssa Griffin. Cheyan Brassuer followed with an RBI groundout.
The Lady Vikings kept VUU off the scoreboard until the fourth inning when the Lady Panthers scored 11 runs.
ECSU (1-25, 1-11 CIAA) lost Game 2 of the doubleheader 10-1 in five innings.
Trailing 6-0 in the fourth inning, ECSU scored in the frame on an RBI double by Brassuer.
After the doubleheader, Virginia Union improves to 13-6 overall with an 8-4 record in the CIAA.
Following the four games this weekend, ECSU has lost 13 consecutive games.
ECSU is scheduled to conclude its season on Sunday, April 22 with a doubleheader at home against Lincoln (Pa.).
