David Gazzolo, who won the 2018 Biggs Golf Classic on May 26, qualified to play at the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York this week.

Gazzolo, 25, qualified for the 118th U.S. Open by finishing tied for fourth place at a U.S. Open sectional qualifying tournament at Springfield Country Club in Ohio on June 4.

He shot 2-under-par at the sectional.

Gazzolo will begin play at the U.S. Open on hole No. 10 on Thursday at 2:42 p.m.

The Riverside, Calif., native sunk an eagle putt on the 18th hole to win the Biggs Classic on the Sound Golf Links at Albemarle Plantation by a shot. 

He finished the three-round tournament at 14-under-par. 

Along with earning $12,000 for winning the Biggs Classic, Gazzolo earned a sponsorship exemption to play in the Web.com Tour’s REX Hospital Open in Raleigh the following weekend.
